There was a huge thunderstorm in Brisbane tonight, it passed right over my house. I thunder and lightning, so initially I decided to film it with my video camera to put on youtube. Unfortunately, the video cam was shithouse at producing good quality footage of the lightning in the dark, it kept losing focus and generally acting useless.
So late in the game I decided to see if I could get a half decent photo using my 350D, which is broken atm and has an issue with the lens. Because I only started using the SLR so late, I didn't have time to set it up properly and find the correct settings, so this photo is not very high quality, but it at least did capture the shot reasonably well. By the time I had worked out all the focusing and shutter issues (within certain limits, as the lens isn't working well atm) the storm had passed and the opportunity to get a really great shot had passed.
Next time a big storm comes I'll take the camera and tripod down to the waterfront where there are picnic areas undercover, with large empty spaces around. Hopefully then I'll be able to frame a better shot without my garage and big fucking trees blocking the lightning.
Anvil crawlers.
